What You Need To Know About AI

Blog

AI can be found just about everywhere, whether you are aware of it or not. If you have a smartphone or laptop, then you have used AI. You have probably posed a question to popular digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, Cortana, Bixby or Google Assistant and not realized that you were, in fact, utilizing AI technology. Social media offers another opportunity to interact with AI. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok all use algorithms designed to deliver more of the same content you engage with. As you probably know by now, AI also delivers individualized advertising right to your smartphone.

Following directions on navigational applications, such as Waze, has made getting from place to place more efficient and less stressful. For example, Waze’s crowdsourcing feature lets you know, in real time, about current road conditions and the best route to your destination.

Many people are familiar with ChatGPT, a chatbot that can process text, images, audio and video data to answer questions and solve problems. ChatGPT has also created problems, particularly in the academic world. Initially, teachers struggled to assess whether a turned-in essay was written by a human or generated by AI. Thankfully, other AI tools like Turnitin or Winston AI are helping teachers detect the cheaters.

As a customer, you have experienced AI technology when shopping. Chatbots respond to customer issues, provide shipping and delivery information or make recommendations for products you may like. All the while you are shopping, the business is gathering information on your habits to upsell you in the future.

Widely used

All major banks use AI systems to detect and prevent fraud. By analyzing thousands of transactions, AI can flag anything that looks suspicious if it deviates from your normal activity. These systems will auto-decline any potentially fraudulent activity, which will initiate an investigation. You will probably be notified and asked to verify the transaction.

The medical field has recognized the value of using AI to provide more accurate and efficient patient information. AI algorithms can analyze medical images, such as X-rays, MRI or CT scans, in ways that the human eye cannot. Physicians are now teaming up with these powerful tools to complement their work and provide faster, more accurate diagnoses. The American Medical Association is judiciously recommending that AI supplement rather than replace medical professionals. Medical decisions will need to be carefully monitored to make sure patients receive the best possible outcomes.

On the business side of AI, manufacturers have been benefiting from AI technology for decades. Industrial robots have worked side by side with their human colleagues to perform tasks such as assembling and stacking. Furnished with predictive analysis sensors, these robots can keep manufacturing equipment running smoothly and predict when maintenance will be needed. Computer vision helps maintain quality control by quickly spotting product defects throughout the manufacturing process. Manufacturing businesses are learning that to stay competitive, they must adopt AI in producing their particular products.

AI is no longer science fiction; it is our reality. It is evident in almost all aspects of daily life, from gaming to vacuuming our floors to translating English into Spanish.
